Really, now. We're all grown-ups here and know how to pack a suitcase, right? So we came up with a few vital items that you might not think about.
What to Bring With You
- Plenty of sunscreen
It sounds obvious, but the sun is very intense at this latitude. If you don't slather it on, you'll end up looking like a lobster and wasting precious vacation time feeling miserable.
- A go-with-the-flow, ready-for-fun, smile-and-laugh attitude
- Your camera
Better yet, bring disposable cameras for everyone in the family. Have everyone shoot their favorite vacation moments, and at the end of your trip, you'll have a scrapbook full of each individual's favorite vacation moments.
- Books and magazines
Your husband will need an indoor activity to keep him entertained after he gets too sunburned to spend anymore time outside…because he didn't listen to you when you reminded him to apply plenty of sunscreen. (See checklist item #1)
- An appetite
Vacation...it's all about the food.
- Flip-flops
This is the beach. If you're not wearing sandals, you're being too uptight
- An appreciation for no-schedules nothing-to-do slow time
What to Leave at Home
- Stress
- Mental lists
- Thoughts about your retirement plan or how to pay for college tuition
- Your Palm Pilot (Give it a try. You really can live without it)
